Introducing Calling The Shots…

Could your delegates tell the difference between a Bordeaux, a Barolo and a Burgundy without looking at the labels? Would they be able to identify a wine from a hint of chocolate, mint or stewed prunes? Whether your delegates consider themselves experts or just appreciate a ‘nice drop’, Calling The Shots is certainly for them.

Mildly competitive, undoubtedly relaxing and a great deal of fun, Calling The Shots is the perfect icebreaker or accompaniment to a dinner or evening gathering. As your participants discover the language of wine, learn tasting techniques and the art of blending, the secrets of the sommelier will be revealed. Finally, each team will have the opportunity to put their new skills to the test, impressing their colleagues and demonstrating just how much they’ve learned. Cheers!

What will happen during Calling The Shots?

• After an introduction to the world of wine by our experts, your delegates (now in teams), will be asked to sample everything from top class wines to budget plonk from all four corners of the globe.
• Using their new-found knowledge, your teams may be asked to identify the country of origin, grape variety, vintage or price band of a selection of wines.
• With their newly honed skills, your delegates will be amazed at their powers of identification, even when blindfolded!
• Your teams will then be introduced to the art of blending and have the opportunity to create their own unique vintage from the fine wines available.
• With some considerable good humour and banter, they will ‘sell’ their particular concoction to the other teams using the language of wine.
• Their pitches will receive expert appraisal and the winning team will be rewarded with a Guide to Wine.
• A Wine Master award will also be given to the individual who displays the most distinctive approach to wine appreciation.
