Flat Out Aviator

Flat Out Aviator invites delegates to build a 1:4 scale life-size cardboard plane using only an instruction booklet and a flat-pack kit of materials. Delegates must construct, build and decorate their plane before taking part in a head to head race. Everyone on the team is given a role and they must work together to formulate how they can best navigate the plane through the race obstacles.

It’s time to line up on the runway in our Red Bull Air Race! The teams will need speed, skill and precision to navigate through the obstacles. The winning team is announced and celebrated!

Learning Outcomes

In order to successfully build the plane, delegates need to focus on their communication skills, resourcefulness and of course, teamwork. Understanding the objective is the key to success in this construction team building activity. Teams learn that creating sub-teams and dividing tasks is the best way to complete the challenge. They come to understand that role allocation based on individual strengths, effective teamwork and efficient strategic planning will lead to success in the Finale Race.
